St Botolph's CE Primary School

March 8th 2022

St Botolph's C E Primary School in Shepshed, Leicestershire currently have 300 pupils, but recently relocated to a former secondary school building with space for 630, in readiness for housing expansion in the area. They asked our team to build them a brand-new library with the ‘wow factor’, to inspire their pupils both old and new!

With a growing number of pupils, school staff wanted an enticing library which would highlight the importance of reading by forming a focal point within the school. Their chosen rooms were a central glass column within the new building, making for a striking space – but not without its challenges, as the rooms are entirely made of glass, with no walls or flat sides!

Unique themed spaces

Rising to the challenge, our team created not one but two vibrant and unique themed spaces where pupils can escape and immerse themselves in a good book. Downstairs, an underwater ocean-theme for EYFS and Key Stage 1, with a central archway that invites children to explore an ocean of new ideas and adventure.

Out of this world

Upstairs for Key Stage 2, a space theme that’s out of this world! The team used shelving and seating from our space-themed furniture range, including the popular Rocket ship display unit, to really bring it to life.

Making vision a reality

The school are thrilled with their new library spaces and the grand opening of the new building was a huge success with parents and children overwhelmed.

Emma Pepper, St Botolph’s Headteacher, said: "Peters created two unique, beautiful, creative spaces that completely met my vision. They met with me and discussed my vision and made it a reality."
