About Peters Bakers
- Peters Bakery was founded in 1966 by Peter Knowles
- First branch established at Belmont in Durham
- Peter is now the chairman of the business but continues to play an active, hands on role within the company, ensuring that the passion for craft baking is at the forefront of the business and its ethos and culture
Since 1966 we have expanded to 71 locations across the North East.
We have embarked upon a radical program of change within all aspects of the business to meet the challenges of the 21st century and the changing needs of customers.
Part of that change, and the most visible, is a program of rebranding and refurbishment of all our 71 branches.
This process commenced in 2002 with our branch in Hexham, Northumberland, refurbished, rebranded and repositioned to act as a template and model for our other branches, providing the new look that will provide a clear and identifiable image across the North East - "Ah, yes, there's Peters - Lets pop in!"
The new image provides strong primary colours that are a radical departure from the industry norm of creams, whites and beiges.
Allied to this a more informal contemporary uniform for staff, new colourful point of sale images, refurbished counters and an espresso Coffee To Go offer all combine to provide a new, fresh, vibrant and distinctive look for the marketplace of today.
The task of taking Peters Bakery forward in the 21st Century with a growth strategy focused through the development of the rebranding and repositioning of the business is now in the hands of Peters two sons, Richard, Managing Director and Chris, Finance Director.
People and Products are the key drivers in the business of Peters Bakery, and the same fresh thinking applied to our physical image is in place across the business to ensure that our production of the freshest possible product to the Peters quality standard is developed in conjunction with our rebranding and repositioning.
